FRIDAY 15 MAY 2026
An unmissable night of Americana, folk and roots music featuring The Jesse Janes Band and Joe Martin. The Jesse Janes Band return to the Island after last year’s sold-out shows, bringing their joyful, harmony-rich take on Americana, bluegrass and blues. Expect classics made famous by Johnny Cash, Bob Dylan, Emmylou Harris, Alison Krauss, Elvis, Gillian Welch and more — plus favourites from the O Brother, Where Art Thou? soundtrack. The quartet features Irish sisters Kate and Mary Rose alongside Liverpool musicians Tom and Andy, and have been captivating audiences for over a decade. www.thejessejanesmusic.com Joining them is Joe Martin, a modern troubadour and acclaimed songwriter now based on the Isle of Man. Drawing on influences from Dylan and James Taylor to Townes Van Zandt and Jason Isbell, Joe’s storytelling songs have earned widespread praise. He follows his debut album Empty Passenger Seat with the release of a brand-new album Alone in Valentine recorded in Nashville with sons of Glen Campbell and Jimmy Webb, which he is extensively touring this year. www.joemartinmusic.com ✨ Two outstanding Americana artists. One beautiful venue. One great night ✨ SATURDAY 16 MAY 2026
Celebrate 20 incredible years of blues with Blue John! John Gregory — better known as Blue John— marks two decades of performing the blues with a very special live show at The Institute, Laxey on 16 May 2026, joined by special guests The Jesse Janes Band. A much-loved Isle of Man country blues guitarist, Blue John is renowned for his authentic fingerpicking style inspired by the greats, including Mississippi John Hurt and Big Bill Broonzy. His career has taken him across the British Isles, touring with U.S. blues heroes such as Ari Eisinger, Erin Harpe, and Toby Walker, as well as performing alongside Dr Phil Ratcliffe—biographer of Mississippi John Hurt—and even travelling to Chicago to play Broonzy’s own guitar. John spent many years side by side on stage with singer and harmonica player Tim Cass who were known in the music scene as the blues duo Blue John and Papa Cass. He has opened for legends including Duck Baker, Martin Taylor, and The Fabulous Thunderbirds. Dr Phil Ratcliffe hails him as “an outstanding musician of early blues and ragtime styles”, while Blues Matters! magazine praises him as “a very fine acoustic picker”. Joining him for this milestone celebration are The Jesse Janes Band, a dynamic four-piece outfit from Tyrone and Liverpool whose sold-out Isle of Man shows in April 2025 wowed audiences island-wide. Their rich, multi-instrumental sound blends Americana, Country, Folk, Irish, Blues, and Bluegrass, guaranteeing an unforgettable night of top-class live music. |
Saturday 6th June 2026
When The Jesse Janes were asked in late 2023 to put together a Summer of Love show, there was no pause, no pondering, no “let’s think about it”. They jumped in barefoot and smiling, sleeves rolled, hearts wide open. The show came together with joy, colour, and deep affection for an era that changed music forever, and when it landed at West Kirby Arts Centre in June 2024, it became one of those nights people still talk about with a soft grin and a little shake of the head. You know the kind.
Since then, the band has been roaming far and wide with their O Brother, Where Art Thou? show, popping up at festivals, special events, and in between it all, writing new music and following the road where it bends. But some shows don’t stay in the past quietly. Some tap you on the shoulder and say, it’s time again.
So here it is.
The Jesse Janes invite you to step back into a moment when music was a movement, when songs were spells, and when peace, love, and a good harmony felt like acts of gentle rebellion. Summer of Love: The Woodstock Generation is a celebration of the artists who shaped everything that came after. The voices, bands, and songs that still hum through our bones. The ones that taught us how to sing together.
Expect flower power spirit, rich harmonies, and that unmistakable Jesse Janes blend of warmth, soul, and playful reverence. This is not nostalgia sealed in glass. This is living, breathing music, shared in a room full of people who feel it too.
So come and gather with us.
Let the colours swirl.
Let the music carry you.
